Why Allu Arjun chose Bihar for the grand event
Pushpa 2: The Rule trailer will be launched in Patna today, November 17. But, why did a Telugu superstar like Allu Arjun decide not to launch the event in the South? Here's everything you need to know about the big event.
Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2 trailer launch is set to take place in Patna
It's the first big-budget film to choose Bihar for the trailer launch
Allu Arjun's fans in Bihar inspired the grand event in Patna
The stage is set for the grand trailer launch of Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2: The Rule. The entire team of the film has flown to Patna, Bihar for the event, to commence what they are calling the biggest trailer launch event in the history of Indian cinema. This is also the first time that the makers of a big-budgeted film like Pushpa 2 have chosen to travel to Bihar for the launch. The trailer launch of movies usually takes place in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore. Patna is first for many reasons. But, why?
The decision to organise an event on such a grand scale in Patna is not random. After the massive success of Pushpa in 2021, Allu Arjun, the lead star in the film, became a Pan-India name. This was the first time that he was celebrated outside the Telugu film industry as a legit Pan-India crowd puller. He gained newfound popularity. So much so that the actor ended up winning a National Award for Best Actor for his performance in the Sukumar-directorial.
Bihar didn't remain untouched by the Pushpa craze. Allu's desi gangster avatar appealed to the masses, and Bihar especially showed keen interest in appreciating Pushpa, the local bad boy who likes to live like a king even while wearing a torn slipper.
Pushpa: The Rise remains one of the biggest South Indian hits in the state. Everything about Pushpa's lifestyle, his gestures, body language became a rage in the north, especially in Bihar. The music of the film, especially the Srivalli song, was so popular, that in 2022, a Bhojpuri version was created by a singer which went viral on social media. The film was also a big hit on satellite television in Bihar.
Upon a thorough analysis, the makers, including Allu Arjun, decided to express their gratitude to their fans in Bihar by organising a grand trailer launch in Patna.
a business decision
Apart from the emotional aspect, the decision also reflects professional thinking. Allu Arjun needs no introduction in the South. The popularity of the Pushpa franchise is extensive in the South states. Even if the team avoids a grand launch there, it is never going to affect its run at the box office. But, facilitating a special event in the North, especially in Bihar, will definitely attract crowds, and build a sense of belongingness among the audience for their own Pushpa. All this to push for a bigger traction in theatres, and expect more turnout at the ticket window upon the film's release.
